As they move to year 3, they are no longer universally eligible for free school meals but you may be able to apply for benefits-related free school meals instead.❔Do you know the difference between universal infant and benefits-related free school meals❔ If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, they will automatically be entitled to universal infant free school meals. You don’t need to apply for universal infant free school meals. However, if you do meet the benefits-related free school meals eligibility criteria, you are advised to make an application to receive additional benefits including the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme and funding for your child’s school.
